Spotlight on Innovation: Anti-Tumor Drug Production Base

News & Insights2025-02-26

Project Overview:

This project is a production and R&D base for anti-tumor drugs of a pharmaceutical company, located in a high-tech development zone, covering an area of approximately 80 mu. The northern side of the site is adjacent to the main road of the development zone, while the southern side faces the secondary road. The municipal route planning is well-organized.

Two Phases of Project Planning:

Phase1: Includes the office and quality control building, active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) workshops 1 and 2, power station, general warehouse, Class A warehouse, tank area, and wastewater treatment facilities.

Phase2: Includes API workshops 3 and 4, as well as the comprehensive formulation workshop.

Project Challenges:

  • Optimizing Entrance Layout: The entrances of personnel flow and material flow were strategically planned through a detailed analysis of the site conditions. The entrance of personnel flow is located on the north side, along the main road, while the entrance of material flow is positioned on the south side, along the secondary road. The personnel flow and material flow are effectively separated to minimize cross interference.

  • Rational Organization of Functional Zones: Based on the project's construction requirements, the plant area was divided into different functional zones, including:

  1. Front zone (office and quality control building, plant control room)

  2. Production zone (API workshops 1 to 4, comprehensive formulation workshop)

  3. Storage zone (general warehouse, Class A warehouse, tank area)

  4. Auxiliary facilities zone (rainwater and accident pools, wastewater treatment, exhaust treatment, etc.).

These zones are independent yet closely interconnected, ensuring smooth operations across the plant.

  • Precise Building and Traffic Layout: Considering the prevailing southeast wind, production process flow, and natural site conditions, each building, road (firefighting access), pipeline, and landscaping is carefully positioned. The front zone is located on the northeast side, directly facing the main entrance, showcasing the company's image. The production zone, as the core of this project, is centrally located. The storage zone is situated near the entrance of material flow to reduce vehicle impact on the production area. The auxiliary facilities zone is placed in the southwest, taking advantage of the site's natural elevation difference, which reduces investment and facilitates connection to the municipal roads on the south side.

Project Highlights:

  • Maximized Land Utilization: By optimizing the layout, an additional API workshop was successfully incorporated into the project, further enhancing land utilization efficiency.

  • Improved Safety and Efficiency: The independent plant control room significantly enhances plant safety while improving overall operational efficiency.

  • Aesthetic and Cost-Efficiency Balance: The central utility corridor, which connects the control room, power station, workshops, tank area, wastewater treatment, and exhaust treatment areas from north to south, is both visually appealing and convenient for management, thereby saving substantial investment.

  • Convenient Plant Management: The plant's management efficiency is enhanced by the separation of the front zone and the production zone with a second gate.

  • Rational Phase Planning: The zoning of Phase1 and Phase2 carefully considers the needs of Phase2 construction, ensuring that Phase2 can be built without disrupting the production and operations of Phase1.
